Commission Inquiries

Commissions start small and increase in cost as size and detail is added (thus adding time to the project). Knowing which details are most important will ensure I spend time on those first. The more time I can afford to spend on details the more accurate and “clean” they will be.

  • What information do you need from me?

    • Size: I will need rough measurement in inches. Your final piece may not be these exact dimensions but it will be close. I nearly always include extra blank paper around the painting for framing, if you’d like it to be painted on a much larger sheet (for an oversized frame) please mention this.

    • Subject: What am I painting? I ask you to provide a prompt (one to three words for me to work from), one or more pets (please provide photos using my dropbox), or one or more “concepts” (which are the basic ideas or objects you’d like to see in the final piece). If you’d like to work outside these basic building blocks please feel free to let me know.

    • Detail level: The level of details available varies but can be described loosely with these terms:

      - Simple (this includes quick washes, minimal definition, and a limited color palette)

      - Moderately detailed (this builds on the painting above by adding more colors/shades, more purposeful/controlled shading, and a few finer details)

      - Detailed (this builds on the painting above by filling in more details/textures, and adding some background details)

      - Highly detailed (this is when I really take the time to fully fill in all the details, shades, textures, and background needed)
